Brought to you by: Lorraine Leo, Massachusetts, USA
This recipe is as easy as can be. A standard menu item at most
diners
in the United States, creamed chipped beef was also a very common meal in the U.S.
Conversion Table
U.S. to Metric and Metric to U.S.
Ingredients:
3 Tablespoons of butter
4.5 ounces of
Sliced Dried Beef
diced into ½” squares
2 Tablespoons of flour
2 cups of milk (preferably whole milk)
Several slices of bread toasted
Procedure:
Melt butter in frying pan
Put bread in the toaster
Add diced up dried beef and warm for about 2 minutes
Add flour to create a
roux
(mixing the flavors of the melted butter and cooking beef with the flour)
After about 2-4 minutes add in the milk, pour quickly as you would to deglaze a pan.
Lower heat to medium
Gently stir to mix while it thickens, this could take 5-15 minutes to boil off some of the water and for the flour to thicken.
Serve over toast.
